What can I say, bad kharma weekend I guess. Bears bouncing off of cars, motorcycles dragging through the dirt, bar ends being readjusted with back protectors. Oh yeah, and Raf’s bike is in serious need of a good exorcism.
My brief synopsis of racing results:
-
Fri practice – Derek Marcks (666) passes me on the straight and I’m following him through 2, closing in on braking in 3 and his front end washes out right at the apex of 3. Basically I had nowhere to go but off the track. I managed to avoid him and his bike and keep my bike upright until I got it stopped. A brief check of my shorts and I was on my way with no harm done.
-
Sat. Supersport race – had a good start and was up around 3rd/4th with about 2 laps to go when I start losing power, as I come around turn 10 it’s stumbling bad so I pull off into the pits and head for the garage. Turns out the fuel line was resting on the case of the motor and causing it to vapor lock. 10 cent zip tie fixes this.
-
Sun. Superbike race – Get another decent start right up front but eventually keep getting drafted on the straight and finish a solid 6th with no mechanical issues.
Sun GP race – Another good start, 2nd place coming into Turn 3 on the 1st lap. Same deal with drafting on the straight and I’m back in 5th after a couple laps. I’m catching the 4th place guy with 1 lap to go coming into Turn 10 and my chain decides it would really like to take a trip down the track all by itself. Grrr…. Well it did have a few races on it (2 seasons plus an endurance race) so I guess I don’t have too much to complain about.
To do list before the July race: new chain and getting the bike on the dyno to see what condition the motor is in.
